Clinical Interventions for Families in Early Recovery

By Tanya Stuart, LCSW-BACS, LAC, CCS, IEDS

Course Overview

This 2 hour clinical training provides therapists with practical tools and
evidence-based interventions for working with families impacted by
substance use and mental health challenges during early recovery.
Participants will learn strategies to repair communication, strengthen
family engagement, and reduce conflict while promoting accountability and
healthy boundaries. The training will explore parent coaching techniques,
family dynamics in recovery, and methods for creating structure that
supports long-term change. Special attention will be given to the
reintegration process following residential treatment, including relapse
prevention planning, rebuilding trust, and establishing realistic
expectations. Attendees will leave with practical interventions that can be
immediately implemented to help families create stability, improve
relationships, and support sustained recovery.
